Although Las Vegas' thermometers haven't received the memo (it's only 64 degrees here today), it's time for spring! Spring is one of my favorite times of the year - it's time for new flowers to bloom on the plants in my yard, March Madness is right around the corner, and most importantly it's time for new clothes and shoes to hit the stores! My hope is that if I start buying spring fashions, the temperature will get the hint and warm up to a nice 85 degrees so I can wear everything.
When you start looking at what's hot for spring, you'll notice that some of the trends sound familiar from past spring seasons. The difference is that designers have come up with new ways to wear these looks to give them a fresh spin. Start shopping now and maybe together we can raise the temperature!
Here are the top 10 things that I will be adding to my closet this season (note: I do not plan on only buying 10 things, but I'll buy these items first).
I think I might be obsessed with shoes. My friends and family will say I absolutely am obsessed, but I like to say I'm just 'passionate'. I'm also 'passionate' about the intense colors that are everywhere this spring. Jessica Simpson was kind enough to create the Evangela platform sandal in blue and green with neon piping that combines my loves into one.
Silver sandals are all the rage for spring and are a great neutral. TheSenna Sandal has the perfect combination of shine and strappiness and is bound to fit right in with the rest of the metallic shoes in my closet. (Note: you do not have to live in Las Vegas to rock these shoes - they are perfect day or night with everything from jeans to dresses.)
I love a good white crisp button down shirt and they are 'white hot' for spring. But since pleating is also big this season, I'm going to pick up a Hi Lo Pleated Button Down Top that looks classic from the front but has pleating and cut outs on the back. So cute with skinny jeans (see GAP below)!
A good fitting skinny jean is hard to find. Now that I found one that fits like a glove at GAP, I just have to decide which of the candy-colored jeansI'll buy - cobalt blue, purple, fuchsia or lilac (bold pastels are another spring trend). This decision is clearly too difficult so I'll buy all of them.
GUESS by Marciano
This store managed to cover almost all of this season's styles - daring patterns, vivid colors, stripes, color blocking and nature prints. It was hard to narrow down what I was going to buy, but I'm going with the Butterfly Shirt Dress and its great pattern in blue and yellow. If this print is too much for you in a dress, they also have it in a tank that you can pair with a pencil skirt or high waisted pant.
Lest the boys feel left out, I checked out the board shorts at Original Penguin and I have to say they are pretty fabulous and allow men to partake in spring trends without wearing flowers. My pick is thePrinted Volley Swim Short in blue, yellow and turquoise stripe with the adorable 'Pete the Penguin' logo on them.
Fuchsia nail polish. This will be my color this season - perfect with silver sandals and it doesn't have to match the rest of my outfit. The intensity of the color will look great with all of the vibrant clothes I plan on wearing this season.
If you haven't checked out S.Y.L.K. yet, you are missing out! The store carries runway fashions at affordable prices... who doesn't love that combo? For spring they have a yummy sheer pleated maxi skirt in the most beautiful jade color. I'll just throw this on with a white tank and silver flat sandals, and I'll be ready to go.
While I was buying new lingerie in the hottest pinks, yellows and greens, I noticed that Victoria's Secret also has hot colors in their beauty department. I bought the Limited Edition Deluxe Eye Palette in purple and aKissaholic Lip Gloss in Shiver (a pinky coral).
Go big, go bold and go shopping!
